I think it’s worth it. You can move around without having to depend on public transportation but the real advantage is that you can take a ride to see Hoover Dam. It’s only a 40 minute ride down the road but it’s worth everything that you spend on the rental. I say yes, go for a rental car.
Probably better not to rent a car especially if this is your first visit. Stay on the strip and be where all the action is. You don’t have to travel off the strip with so much to do within walking distance. For getting around Vegas read this webpage. Full of great advice.
If you are staying someplace that is at least walking distance to the strip & that is all you want, then don’t get the car, there is more then enough to see & do for a few days without the extra cost, especially if this is your first trip to Vegas.
A car is use full if you are at one of the resorts away from the city, if you want to take a road trip out to the Grand Canyon or if you will be there for more then just a few days. Only rent the car for the days you need it.
NO need. The Strip is four miles long. You can use a taxi if you don’t want to walk or the CAT bus system. Most people end up staying in the general area of their hotel, which usually includes multiple other casino properties
CORNER – Tropicana, Mandalaly Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, NYNY, Monte Carlo, MGM Grand
CORNER – Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Bills Paris, Ballys, Flamingo and easy walk to next corner
CORNER – Wynn, Palazzo, Venetiain, Treasure Island, Mirage, Encore and Fashion Show Mall
OTHER CASINOS – Sahara, Circus Circus, Riveria and Stratosphere (NOT on Strip)
We have never rented a car, and we’ve never wished that we had. Public transportation is pretty easy, and relatively cheap, in Vegas. And you can easily walk to many locations on the strip. While parking on the strip is free, it just seems like a lot of hassle, especially since we tend to stay on or near the strip.
If you plan to venture away from the strip, then it might be worth renting a car for all or part of your trip.
Yes! Because there are a lot of things to see here. & Most of them are NOT walking distance. The taxi’s charge a arm & leg. Took a cab one time, from the Tropicana to Fremont st & it cost me 45$. You can rent a small car for about that the same for a few days. There is too much walking not to have a car.
No, you can either walk or take a cab. It’s not worth it to pay that kind of money for places in walking distance.
