Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand The MGM Grand Hotel has created a Lion Habitat as a showcase for public education and appreciation for lions. The lions actually live in custom accommodations on an 8.5-acre ranch 12 miles from the MGM Grand. The lions are brought in to the habitat where they can play, snooze, “ham it up” for the audience and interact with the handlers from 11am-7pm daily.
Circus Acts at Circus Circus Hotel Experience the world’s largest permanent circus, highlighting the center stage of the Carnival Midway daily starting at 11am. See amazing aerial maneuvers performed by world class performers, juggling, contortion, and human pyramid building. You’ll also enjoy Flying Trapeze artists doing breathtaking stunts and more.
Saltwater Aquarium at the Mirage. The Mirage has a huge saltwater Aquarium that is free to view. It is a beautiful aquarium over 20,000 gallons with an incredible variety of brightly colored fish and diverse aquatic plant life. The aquarium is 53 feet long and 8 feet high and is located in the lobby of the hotel. Sharks, stingrays, and gobies can be seen swimming side by side with eels, sea bass, angelfish, puffer fish, tangs and other exotic sea creatures.
“Sirens of TI” at the Treasure Island Hotel Pirate Ship Battle – Treasure Island offers a fantastic battle at “Siren’s Cove” in the huge lagoon in front of their Strip entrance area. The clash between the Siren temptresses and the Pirates transforms this 17th century story into an exciting 21st century prsentation of song and dance and danger. A “must see” of the free things to do in Las Vegas ! There are several shows nightly.
See the Wildlife Habitat for free at the Flamingo Hotel. Visit a tropical setting featuring exotic birds like beautiful Chilean Flamingos. The lush foliage mixed with streams and sparkling waterfalls hosts a variety of wildlife including the flamingos, swans, ducks, and even turtles and colorful koi fish. Volcano at the Mirage In front of the Mirage hotel is the free Volcano attraction. There are actually two volcano systems that erupt on schedule with explosive fireballs and dancing flames amongst the lagoons and waterfall. It is magnificently choreographed using fire and music. The sound effects for the eruption are actual recordings from volcanos, and because of the superb sound system the audience can feel the rumbling. Erupts every hour from dusk to 11pm.
Conservatory and Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio. Visit an awesome indoor garden with a spectacular floral display that is really a horticultural showcase. There is a different display for each season. Take a leisurely stroll amongst exceptionally gorgeous plants, flowers and trees. Specially designed lighting accentuates the flowers best features. 140 expert horticulturists theatrically arrange gazebos, bridges, ponds, and water features uniquely for each different season.
Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Gardens The Ethel M Chocolate Factory offers a tour of their huge facility. You get to see chocolates being made and learn about the process. You can also sample fresh chocolates, and just enjoy some relaxation in the Chocolate Lounge. You can also stroll through the world famous Ethel M Botanical Cactus Garden. One of Nevada’s largest collections of cacti, the cactus garden displays over 300 species of plants.
The Fountains of Bellagio The exciting water show that the Bellagio offers is truly spectacular. The small lake in front of the hotel comes to life with water, music, and light. Try to see this one at night if you can. It is a very complex “dancing water” choreography which includes a mix of music from opera, classical, and broadway tunes. The Aquarium at the Silverton Hotel The Silverton has a 117,000 gallon tropical fish aquarium. The aquarium contains 1,000′s of fish including sharks and stingrays. Thursday through Sunday in the late afternoon and evening women dressed as mermaids join the fish in the aquarium for a fun little show about every 1/2 hour.
Fountain shows at Caesars Forum Shops The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace has magnificent architecture worth seeing anyway, but there’s also some great free attractions which are very unique. With a Roman theme the Festival Fountain Show offers a laser light show display while the animatronic Roman figures have discussions. The Fall of Atlantis show near the Aquarium uses lifelike animatronic figures to tell the myth of Atlantis.
Tropical Rainforest at the Mirage The Mirage has a beautiful Atrium just inside the front entrance that is well worth seeing. It is a lush indoor rainforest housed under a 100-foot-high dome. Palm trees reach 60 feet above the cascading waterfalls, and Lagoons meander through a forest of tropical flora including bird of paradise trees, orchids and bromeliads. There are more than 100 different types of plants in the atrium.
Hawaiian Marketplace Mall Performers The Hawaiian Marketplace Shopping Mall on the Strip is fashioned after the International Marketplace in Waikiki and offers free shows every day. Polynesian born performers enchant the audience with traditional songs, stories, and dances.
Show in the Sky at the Rio Hotel Join the excitement at Rio’s Masquerade Village with the Show in the Sky! It’s a unique performance every time, with three different shows featuring excellent dancers in eye-popping costume fashions. Enjoy the festive Latin music which accents the strong percussion influence of the Brazilian music culture. The Show in the Sky is performed hourly from 7 pm until midnight every Thursday through Sunday.
Fremont Street Experience Only foot traffic is allowed for several blocks of Fremont Street downtown, which is completely covered by a huge canopy 90 feet off the ground. The canopy is made up of over 12 Million LED lights which come to life in a fabulous computer controlled display. The light shows along with music & sound from the 555,000 watt sound system are surely an attraction to experience.
Rock & Roll Memorabilia at The Hard Rock Hotel & Cafe The Hard Rock Hotel and Cafe has a fabulous collection of rock & roll memorabilia of items from history’s favorite stars. Items include guitars and other instruments, clothing, recordings, and more. There is memorabilia of the Beatles, James Brown, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Guns n’ Roses, John Lennon, Madonna, Motley Crue, Elvis Presley, Queen,the Rolling Stones, the Who, and more.
CityCenter Fine Art Collection This collection is one of the world’s largest and most ambitious art collections in existence. Shelby Museum & Showroom The Shelby Museum features cars for all years of Shelby car development from 1962 to present, including the legendary Shelby Cobra. You can take the free tour (mon.-fri. at 10:30am) including the production facility where you can see the famous Shelby cars being hand asembled. It is located near the Las Vegas Speedway.
Fashion Shows at the Fashion Show Mall Enjoy live fashion shows Friday-Sunday at the Fashion Show Mall on the Strip. The lovely models hit the runway to show off the latest fashion and styles from the Fashion Show retailers. Showtimes: 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm
“Streetmosphere” at Grand Canal Shoppes – Venetian Hotel The Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian is a Venice Italy themed shopping & dining adventure in itself, but there are also performances at St. Mark’s Square and throughout the area such as singers, magicians, musicians, puppeteers, living statutes, and more. It is very entertaining and worth seeing.
Springs Preserve Trails The Springs Preserve features colorful botanical gardens, galleries, museums, outdoor concerts and events, and an interpretive trail system that meanders through a scenic wetland habitat. Currently there is no charge to stroll through the almost 2 miles of trails.
Free Live Music Bands in the Casino Lounges The casinos have lounges to keep guests entertained and lots of them feature live bands. You can have a refreshment and enjoy the music or even dance if you’d like to. There are no cover charges or drink minimums, just walk in and enjoy the music.
