this IS a great band
Check out the Wikipedia article on them for the story of what happened and why.
While they are best known for their originality, outrageousness, and live productions, musically they are great in my opinion. The band had a lot of excellent musicians, just not household names.
I had the great, good fortune to see them in performance on their WDYWFL tour. There is a great, accurate video here on YouTube of a live performance of “White Punks On Dope”, but not “WDYWFL “. What a shame.
talk to ya later -one of the best tunes from the great 80′s – fantastic guitar solo at the end. tremendous vocals back then — maybe not so much now*—but still I love them and have fond memories ofthat time.
Always one of my favourite bands ever! Thankyou for posting
Well you cant have that butt.
I was there. great show. They will be there again Oct23
I had the Live on cassette back in the day, played it until the tape snapped:p…had to fix it with scotch tape
saw them at Tangiers in Akron two years ago.
Put on a great show! They still tour all the time. Been here in the Cleveland area a few times this past two years.
Check out the Tubes in the movie Xanadau. They do a song toward the end when the new club opens.
This was a great band.God,thank you for the perverted little gift called “the Tubes!”
Excellent live band – great fun.
I remember a record review of later “MTV” Tubes and started with.. Are this the same people that did White Punks ? obvious they went comercial…from great to ok.
I love this song man.
i saw them last week in Lisboa, It was Nice, Very Nice. One of my favorite LP is “What do you want from Live” and the show just started with Overture, She’s a Beauty, White Punks on Dupe, Mondo Bandage and so on. At the End Talk to ya later. It Was Amazing. They perform with Foreigner, Madness and Silicon/carbon.
i didnt know they were still together! wow! love em!
Great band and still rockin it big time !
buncha da,seen them in 1980 cleveland.the props & attire made madonna look like a falling star. too bad cbs is sitting on all that film. also they had a better sound voicewise.
The Tubes were staple of my youth. What’s that say about me?? Saw them 16 x’s and appreciated the variety of content and the humor they brought to their performances. As much as I like Todd Rundgren, after he produced their TV album they started heading downhill.
I wil always remember “Cowboy Fee and the Hefers dream” . Their alternate name when they didn’t want people to know who they were. Funny as hell.
I have seen this song done live twice now, and one thing remains the same- Fee Waybill is still an egotistical ass.
I met everyone in the current line-up, and some of them agreed that I should have a shot at being included- Fee, on the other hand, seems to think he IS the Tubes.
lol i was here, dishwashing and picking up beer bottles from IDIOT drunks
What Do You Want From Live – I want Quay Lewd back in The Tubes!!!!!!!!!!!
First shows where I saw a production and not guys just playing. Seen 8-10 in the late 70′s early 80′s, great memories……sort of.
I saw that tour at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre.
The Tubes were going down the career fast pipe at the time and about half way through their set after opening for Utopia, they started insulting the few remaining members of the audience who stuck around after Todd left the stage.
OMG my sick, twisted, wasted, outta control youth is before my very eyes.
I saw them headline at Knebworth in the 1970s and again at Hammersmith Odeon. Great both times and I have Fee Waybills and Re Styles sutographs.
