Hey Bill, this is your twin brother Bill. For your information January this year was 6 months ago.
To get a good deal to Vegas, follow these tips.
1) Book your flight early, preferably in October
2) Look for discounts at hotel websites.
3) Sign up at those sites and they will email you their hotel specials
All the hotels/casinos got good deals, especially if your staying for more than 2 days. Google promotional codes, cuz most of the hotels accepts them when you book online!
Book a deal with the hotel directly and make sure that you can cancel it at no charge (they usually allow that, just check the fine print). Keep checking back every so oftern for better deals. When you find one cancel your old reservation and make the new one.
Check with this site, it only has deals that are directly with the hotel, so they are almost always refundable:

It is too early to get any kind of real deal. They don’t set prices until they see how future sales are going. I would wait until at least October before getting serious about booking. It is too far in advance to book on some airlines also. You can start looking now and make a list of deals you find as time gets closer. Be prepared to buy if you find a spectacular deal. Several years ago I was preparing to vacation in Vegas and one day found a package deal for the Bellagio at the same price as Palace Station. I jumped on it and got it. Later that day the error was found but they had to honor the price that they sold it to me. Those are gems you have to look for.
