The cheapest place is the Circus Circus. Probably about $50-$60. It is not very nice.
A better place is Harrah’s or Bally’s for about $90-$120.
few(if any) cheap places on the strip, try downtown.also, book trip with a travel group, huge savings that way.
i think every where is expensive
The Stratosphere Hotel Casino is usually cheaper than the others. But it is on the northern end of the strip a bit.
It depends on when you go. January is going to be expensive. When we went the last time it was in July, and the Sahara was the least expensive. I understand they just underwent a remodeling, so they may not be the right place. If I were you, I would try a travel site like Expedia.com to see what’s best on the dates you need. The first time we went, we stayed at a Marriott which was just off of the strip, and just as good because it saved us some $$$.
When people that said The Stratosphere and Circus Circus please know that these are both located at the north end of the strip and to get anywhere without taking a cab or monorail, will require A LOT of walking. Also know that this is the slow time of the year for Casinos in Vegas due to the heat so many hotels have really good deals and specials to try and attract peopel to stay there.
I would highly recommend Imperial Palace. Their rates are pretty reasonable and during this time of yeah they have a very nice room rate going as it’s their slow season. So ifyou look up rates now, they won’t be the same rates they are in Jan. However when I was married out there it was during their peak seasons we spent about $85 for our room at the Imperial Palace and that was a love tub room with a special view of the strip, was an awesome deal. Regular rooms ran cheaper.
Also, the nice thing about The Imperial Palace is that it’s almost in the dead center of the strip, it’s rooms are nice and it’s casino and buffets are nice as well. Also another perk is the Imperial Palace has a Monorail station right in the back so if you need to take it, you don’t need to walk far to get to it. My wife and myself actually choose Imperial Palace to stay at when we were married, we have an awesome room with a great view of the strip.
Almost every time I’ve been to Vegas I’ve stayed there with a few exceptions. Other places I’ve stayed were the New York New York, Tropicana and the MGM.
The Tropicana is pretty nice well and pretty centrally located, its rooms are nice and the layout of the hotel and casino is very nice. Also at the Tropicana they have an awesome show at the Comedy Stop, if you enjoy stand up, it’s a must and is also fairly cheap as well. It’s right by a number of nice casinos such as the MGM, The Excalibur, New York New York and if you like Hooters, they have a large place next to it as well. It’s really a nice area and right in the middle of the action.
Links and room rates are as follows, this is just per night for 1 adult, 2 adults doesn’t change the rate much as all. They are as follows;
Imperial Palace–avg room is $47-$114

Tropicana–They actually have a special going on right now that includes tickets to shows they have at their casino, Folies Bergere, which is one of the first major shows in Vegas and Xtreme Magic, also you get discounts off exibits they have as well. I recommend Bodies, it’s a really neat experience. Me and the wife went to it. Room rates with free tickets are $45.99-$75.99

The reasons I would go with these two is because of their room rates, but also, like I said, they are right smack dab in the middle of it all, you dont need to walk 3 miles to get somewhere, and monorail stations connect to the Palace and there is on ein the MGM across the street from The Tropicana. The strip is A LOT bigger then people realize so location should play a big part also on where you stay. With these two place, you can’t go wrong!!
I hope this helps you and I really hope you enjoy your stay there, Vegas is an awesome good time. =)
I agree with the previous post – Tropicana or Imperial Palace have everything you’ll need for a great price.
I’d also recommend Excalibur. Cheezy decor, but the price is very reasonable and the rooms were super clean. I’ve stayed at both the Trop and Excalibur, I’d stay again if I were on a budget.

I haven’t stayed at Treasure Island yet (going in September) but the rates there were VERY reasonable as well – and it’s also in a great location (walking distance from The Wynn, Flamingo, Caesars, etc). You may want to give that a try also.

Best part about the Trop, Excalibur and Treasure Island is no incidental charge deposit is required. I paid for the rooms in full up front and had no further expense or holds on my credit card for my stay. At NY NY and some other hotels, they charge $100 per night for incidentals. Kind of steep.
the Monte carlo
My favorite places to stay that are a “good bargain/price” and very nice and have all the amenities that I want (i.e. buffets, bars, lounges, great casino) are the following:
1. Luxor – this casino has a HUGE pool and has about every game that you want to play (including a nice poker room). It also has a pretty cheap buffet compared to the other mainstreem hotels, and the rooms are very nice and its cool being in a hotel that has slanted ceiling b/c it is in the shape of a pyramid. You can get rates near $70-80/night with early bookings during the week, and ~ 150-180/night on holidays/wkends
2. New York New York – This hotel always has deals and has a lot of great bars and restaurants, and the people that stay here seem generally younger. The games are great here (no poker room) and the atmosphere is fast and loud (so if you want a quieter hotel this is not for you). Price is around $80-90/night early booking/wkdays, $150-170/wkends.
3. Monte Carlo – Has a great Micro brewery and great casino as well – which is something I always look for. The buffet here is probably one of the best bargains around. The swiming pool here is pretty nice too, though Luxor’s pool definately is the best. Price is around $80-90/night early booking/wkdays, $150-170/wkends.
4. Mirage or Treasure Island – These are a little more pricey, but you do get a little more for what you pay for. The rooms a little bit nicer, and each have a nice club/lounge that is trendy and fun to hang out in (Tangerine in Treasure Island, JET at Mirage). They has have great buffets in each – much better in quality than the previously mentioned, but also at a much higher price ($30/person vs. < $18 at the other places). Price is around $120-130/night early booking/wkdays, $200-280/wkends.
You can also stay at cheaper places like the Stratosphere, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Tropicana, and Imperial Palace if you’d like – but I wouldnt recommend it (Price is around $60-70/night early booking/wkdays, $120-140/wkends.). Imperial Palace is probably the best of the above hotels in terms of location (very central), but excalibur or Circus Circus is a little nicer. Hotels in Vegas ARE the MAIN attraction, so I would spend a little extra money, plus this would prevent you from having to spend a lot of money on cabs. Have fun and hope this helps.
The Excaliber is pretty cheap, and its right there by the Luxor and Mandalay Bay which are a lot of fun.
well Honey ppl come to Vegas to spend money not save money. if u can’t afford Vegas get married some where else
good luck with good and cheap ( they don’t match specially in January))
