What’s a good time leave Las Vegas to travel to San Diego in March?

I asked this before but didn’t clarify that it would be in March.
My friend told me to wait until midnight to leave if I don’t want to deal with horrible traffic. He’s a truck driver so he’s traveled that route alot but he’s also pretty dramatic. So should I listen to him or leave earlier? We live in Oklahoma and the worst traffic we’ve driven in is in Houston Texas.
Never on a Sunday, Its a dead stop , both directions heading into Vegas and Out. But really any day or time other than on a Sunday.
About 4;30 in the after noon you should miss all the rush hour traffic in all the California cities between Vegas and San Diego, done it dozens of times. Of course leaving at midnight is ok to if you are not sleepy. Driving through LA is a kin to driving through Houston lol but you won’t be doing that.
